Do I need a medical alert system?
When considering a medical alert system for yourself or a loved one, you may feel like the time isn't right, or the cost is too high. However, enjoying the freedom and protection of a medical alert system is surprisingly affordable.
70% of people ages 65 and older will eventually need to invest in some form of long-term care.
Unsure About a Medical Alert System?
If you're not yet comfortable with the idea of a medical alert system, you're not alone. Many people have questions, and even objections, at the beginning of the buying process.
Assured Independence's wearable devices are small, lightweight and discreet. In fact, they're completely invisible when worn under clothing or clipped inside a purse. With its sleek design, the Mobile Smartwatch looks like a stylish smartwatch, not a medical alert device.
While you may not be concerned about your safety now, accidents and other unexpected health concerns become increasingly likely as we get older. For example, each year 1 in 4 people age 65 or older suffers a fall. After you've fallen once, your chance of falling again unfortunately doubles. Additionally, throwing out your back, unexpected bouts of vertigo, and other accidents are all reasons why having a medical alert system can ensure your safety.
The good news is that 90% of older adults who get help within one hour will be able to return home and resume their lives. Being proactive ensures that if an accident does happen again, the help you need is on the way.
Assured Independence devices are designed with all lifestyles in mind. Whether you're relaxing at home, working out at the gym, or visiting your doctor, we have an option to suit your needs.
Cost is an understandable concern. However, the cost of not investing in a medical alert device can be more devastating than investing in one. Experts refer to the first hour after a fall occurs as the "golden hour." Receiving medical attention during this critical time has been shown to dramatically decrease medical costs and increase survival rates. After the first hour, treatment becomes riskier and is more likely to result in the need for rehabilitation and costly long-term care. For about $1 a day, you and your loved ones can feel the peace of mind that comes with 24-hour emergency response at the push of a button.
Your risk of falling increases with age. However, medical alert devices are helpful for non-emergency uses, as well. You can use Assured Independence's non-emergency dispatch services at any time. Simply press the button on your medical alert device and connect with our 24/7 monitoring center. This is helpful if you're not feeling well, get stuck and need assistance, have flare-ups of a medical condition, endure an allergic reaction to food or medication, or if something is making you uneasy and you need someone to talk to.
Cell phones are handy, but they don't replace the need for a medical alert device. Unlike a cell phone, Assured Independence devices, such as the Mobile 4G's emergency wrist button, are water resistant, meaning you're protected even while in the shower. Because the devices are worn around the neck or on the wrist, help is always within reach. A single button press activates our medical alert devices, setting them apart from even the most user-friendly cell phone.
While some smartwatches and fitness trackers have safety features, they're not intended for emergency use. From start to finish, the Mobile Smartwatch was specifically developed for those at greater risk of facing a medical emergency. With a one-touch help screen that connects to 24/7 personalized dispatch and fall detection capabilities, the Mobile Smartwatch is the premiere device for on-the-go safety and peace of mind.
